Bhutan Nepal Foundation
The Bhutan Nepal Foundation (BNF) is a nonprofit organization with its head office based in Nepal. The objective of the Foundation is to preserve and promote the historical and cultural relationship between Bhuta and Nepal and to preserve the history, experiences, and legacy of Bhutanese refugees in Nepal.
The Foundation's head office is located in Daijan-11, Mechinagar Municipality, Jhapa, adjoining the Laxminaryan Devasthan (Mandir). Its associated offices are located in Bhutan, India, and overseas countries where the Bhutanese diaspora resides. The Foundation also maintains a Bhutanese refugee museum, an archive, and efficient studios or apartments that researchers and spiritual practitioners may rent for short-term residence.
The Foundation is chaired by Dr. D. N. S. Dhakal and supported by a small group of dedicated subscribed members. Eventually, the it be managed by active members from Bhutan and Nepal, as well as members of the globally dispersed Bhutanese diaspora, under the rubric of Non-Resident Bhutanese (NRB).
Dr. Dhakal also serves as the Acting President of Bhutan National Democratic Party (BNDP) and has worked in over thirty countries as an international consultant on Public Finance and Project Appraisal and Risk Management. He holds a bachelor degree in engineering (India) and multiple masters' degrees and a PhD from the United States of America.
The ideas for the Bhutan Nepal Foundation (BNF) and the Bhutanese Refugee Historical & Cultural Complex (BRHCC) originated from Dr. D. N. S. Dhakal, who had been active for refugee advocacy. The long-term management structure and ownership of the existing facilities are described in his book, Bhutan: A Memoir of Refugee Struggle and Suggestions for an Amicable Resolution.
Together, these pillars promote reconciliation, understanding, and cooperation among Bhutan, Nepal, and the Bhutanese diaspora worldwide.
